# Qu’est-ce qu’un terminal ?

Un terminal est un programme permettant de **communiquer avec un ordinateur** via des lignes de commande.

Une commande est une instruction que l'on tape dans le terminal et qui va produire un résultat. 

### Que permet un terminal ? 

Entre autres : 

* naviguer dans une arborescence de fichiers
* créer, supprimer, déplacer des dossiers ou fichiers
* lancer des programmes.
